Named the Same: 8 Game Characters and Other Well-Known Personalities

May. 28 12:55 PM by LongHairedOffender

From Baywatch's C.J. and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas' C.J. to Escape From New York's Snake and Metal Gear Solid's Snake, there really are a lot of amusing examples of well-known characters with the same name as game characters. Join Slobs as we name 8 of the best of 'em!

LEFT: The Berserker (Gears of War Beastie)
RIGHT: The Berserker (Former WWF Wrestler)
"Both of the hulking warriors above known as Berserkers have a tendency to not follow the rules of the battlefield and employ their own savage brand of fighting to literally smash their opponents."

LEFT: C.J. (Baywatch Main Hottie)
RIGHT: C.J. (Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Main Hommie)
"These two characters may not appear to have anything in common other than their names, but if you think back both Pamela Anderson and GTA: San Andreas' C.J. were involved in highly publicized and controversial sex scandals: Pam & Tommy Sex Tape and San Andreas' Hot Coffee Hack."

LEFT: Diddy Kong (Well-Liked Donkey Kong Series Ape)
RIGHT: P. Diddy (Well-Known Rapper and "Entrepreneur")
"Other than sharing the same stupid baby names, both Diddy Kong and P. Diddy started out their careers as leaner sidekicks to fatter, more popular figures before establishing a name for themselves. P. Diddy stuck closely to the bloated Notorious B.I.G. like a feeble scavenger fish to the bosom of a great white shark as did Diddy Kong to the side of his huskier cousin Donkey Kong."

LEFT: The Duke (Western Movies Hero)
RIGHT: Duke Nukem (Duke Nukem series Hero)
"The Duke (John Wayne) and Duke Nukem are both equally as American as Apple Pie smeared all over the bare breasts of a blonde model lying nude on top of an American Flag with George Thorogood playing in the background. Yeah, they're that fuckin' American!"

LEFT: Sammy Hagar (Less Flamboyant Counterpart to Van Halen's David Lee Roth)
RIGHT: Mike Haggar (Less Flamboyant Counterpart to Street Fighter's Zangief)
"This may come as a surprise but Final Fight's Haggar and Sammy Hagar were both politically involved to some degree: Mike became Mayor after retiring from professional wrestling and Sammy is well-known as a supporter of the Republican Party who frequently contributes large sums of money to them."

LEFT: Link (Caveman from Encino Man)
RIGHT: Link (Hyrulian from the Legend of Zelda Series)
"We're not going to lie about this example of two fictional characters who share the same name--they don't have very much in common at all, except for the fact that they would both be stabbed and gang-raped if they walked into most neighborhoods after dark because of the way they are dressed."

LEFT: Snake (Raspy-voice no bullshit protagonist from the Metal Gear video game series)
RIGHT: Snake (Raspy-voiced no bullshit protagonist from Escape from New York / Escape from L.A.)
"These guys could be brothers they're so alike in both appearance and character--Solid Snake and Snake Pliskin are pure examples of one man armies who have been known to pump lead into the chests of their enemies, all while enjoying a cigarette."

LEFT: Subzero (Ice-Themed Character The Running Man)
RIGHT:Sub-Zero (Ice-Themed Character from Mortal Kombat Series)
"Either one of these guys shows a total disregard for human life, only Sub-Zero will display this by viciously yanking the skull and vertebrae out of his frostbitten opponents, while Subzero prefers to simply hack them to bits with his razor sharp hockey stick."

Apparently Snake was based off of Snake. Hence why in MGS2, Snake uses Pliskin as his fake name, and as you know that's Snake's last name.

I also see some Rambo influence in MGS when it comes to the Colonel. The Colonel in MGS even kinda reminds me of the one from Rambo.

The Berserker wrestler photos get me every time. Hilarious!

Running Man FTW

My dad's cousin had a small cameo part in The Running Man. Look for a lady in a blue dress.

See, very descriptive I know.

Really? That's pretty rad teh2D, I'm going to look for her when I watch it again tomorrow. I didn't know about the MGS2 reference to Snake Pliskin btw.

She's got a really small part, but I think she's in that little VIP room watching the show. Black hair blue dress.

I'll have to watch it again to pin point exactly where she is. She didn't even get screen credit for her two second role though.

Anyways, don't you remember when Raiden and Snake first meet in MGS2, and Snake introduces himself as Lieutenant J.G. (Junior Grade) Pliskin?

My fav has to be The Duke! So Awesome!

Ha! I used to love watching the Berserker. He was HUGE and had those large furry boots. I always mistook his face for Hacksaw Jim Duggen. They look so much alike!

Though I am a big fan of Kurt Russel, I'm not a big fan of Escape from NY, the movie was a little korny & campy. Much like how MGS4 will no doubt turn out.

The list is Dead On though...LOL!

Thanks GOBLOXXX187!!

Why no HULK?!?!?!?!!?!
You didn't mention the most important person!!! They both hulk up when they get pissed, and become unstoppable.
*points*YOU!!!!!lol

scape from LA fTW!!!!!! lol that movie is sooo crappy that it's actually funny

Mike Haggar for President!!

its funny i was think about diddy kong was wondering if nintendo will bring diddy raceing from n64 back

Oh man, an Encino Man reference, I love that.

YES!

Mike Hagger for PREZ!

well I thought snake was named after his voice actor. In the end of MGS 1 he quoted that his name was David Hayter or maybe he just said David. either way, his last name wasn't pliskin
