Gaming Hours per Week: 10-15. I take my DS with me EVERYWHERE, and get a lot of time in between classes or during class. I am looking forward to summer so I can put in a full workweek of gaming... not that I have ever done that... (coughs) Final Fantasy XII (coughs again).
We know you worked at Hollywood Video's Game Crazy. What was it like working there?
Game Crazy hired me even though they had no hours available to give me. Hmmmm... I wonder why they wanted me. Some of the best things were being able to buy trade-ins off of people for dirt cheap... and being able to play video games all day when it was slow, which it always was. We were able to get some awesome stuff to pimp out our game room as well. The most amusing thing was when guys would come in and ask me if I actually played video games... I got that a ton. Eventually I would just say 'No, I prefer to sit at home cooking and preparing myself for motherhood.' They never really knew how to respond to that... (laughs).
If you could be a character from a video game for a day, who would you be?
That is easy, Lara Croft all the way! Not only were the Tomb Raider games my catalyst into the gaming world, but I have been obsessed (some say to an unhealthy extent) with her since the original game. I have dressed up as Lara. I have Tomb Raider t-shirts, statues, candy bars, action figures, all her comics, original artwork (done by me), documentaries, and every other thing you could ever imagine.
Know any other girl gamers?
I am the RPG lead for the Girl Gaming Network, and that is going to be a great way for me to meet some new girls. I get along really well with other girl gamers, much better than I get along with regular girls... it's great to talk and get excited about something that you both live, breathe and eat.
"It's great to talk and get

What's the worst game you've ever played? One that comes to mind was the first Blood Rayne. I will admit that I am bias in that I love to pick up games with female leads, and since I also love vampires, it seemed like it would be a great fit... unfortunately it wasn't.
I also... don't kill me... really disliked Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. It might be that I had such high expectations for it, but it was a huge flop in my mind. It is the only Final Fantasy game to date that I have not finished though.
What do you think when you hear 'girls suck at playing video games and are total posers'?
Statements like these always crack me up. I am always hearing one of two things in forums: 1. That girl gamers do not exist, or 2. That girls who game are fake, suck at any genre, and are just trying to get attention. The long and short of it is: I am female, I like video games.

Master Chief, Mario, and Mega Man. You have to marry one, kill one, and go on a date with one.
Kill Mario. I love him but I couldn't stand his little accent and red outfit. I'm a fan of Luigi. I would definitely marry Mega Man. He is so hot even for a cartoon, plus we would look good together! That leaves Master Chief for the date. I could last one night with him.
If you had to say what female video game character you have the most in common with, who would you say?
Princess Peach. Everyone thinks I'm a gorgeous blond bimbo but when it comes down to it I kick butt and surprise the people who judge a book by its cover.
"I kick butt and surprise people
who judge a book by its cover."
What is one thing about guy gamers that ticks you off or grosses you out? What about girls?
A lot of male gamers refuse to believe that I am actually a girl. I get quizzed when I'm online because men hear a woman's voice, and think that she is just on there, not actually playing the game. It's so annoying that I can't just play in peace. What grosses me out is that they automatically say they 'want to marry me' even though they have no idea who I am. Don't get me wrong though, nerds are the hottest!
As for girls: the only thing that bothers me is if a girl has OGS or Only Girl Syndrome. They are used to being the only one so instead of rejoicing the fact that they now have a partner of the same sex to play with, they get angry because they are no longer the center of male attention.
Do you have any gaming rituals that get you prepared for a long gaming session?
First off every LAN or long gaming session must have sunflower seeds. I could not survive a LAN without them. Also numerous bottles of water are a must and I have to be in shorts, not pants. I have to have only socks on. I know--that's really weird. It's always best to smoke a fatty as well.

Have any guys ever tried to join your all-girl clan?
Yes. It used to happen all the time, but now there are certain requirements before you can join Female Assassins, such as a microphone is required, for proof, and so we can talk easier in scrims. I think the funniest thing that boys do to try and convince me to let them join my all girl clan is they talk over their microphones in the squeakiest voices imaginable, and say stuff like 'whatever.' I crack up every time.
Do you and the rest of your clan get any flack for being girl gamers?
Oh yeah. All the time. Guys say how girls can't play video games. So we kick their asses in scrims. Then they come back and say 'only FAT, UGLY chicks play video games, blah, blah, blah.' This is one reason why we have a Clan Myspace, with links to members personal Myspaces, just so we can shove it in their face a little more.
Why did you decide to create an all girls clan?
I chose to create an all girls clan so girls would have a place to turn so boys won't harass them, a sort of haven. I started the clan in June 2006 for Starcraft. I recruited about 80 people along with my neighbor Trish. Then we turned to CZ, because you have more control. I bought a game server and then we put up stricter requirements so that there would be no chance for a boy to get into the clan. I had to delete all the FA names that I had not spoken too or seen online for awhile. That left me with 18 clan members. After over a year of recruiting, that was a pretty pathetic number for awhile. But I enjoy being the Leader of Female Assassins; I've received more respect and enjoy playing CZ more then ever before.

If you had to relate yourself to any video game heroine, who would it be and why? Alyx Vance, she kicks ass, is smart, and actually wears normal clothes. To me, she is like the average gamer girl. She is not in a tiny bikini or a princess. She is herself.
Is it a turn on or turn off when guys find out that you play video games?
Turn on, I guess. I get along with many guys because I share the same passion for gaming as they do. I'd rather be gaming for a whole day than out shopping.
Girl gamers have a harder time gaining credibility with the overly male gaming populace. Has there been a moment where you can say you really changed the way someone thought about you as a girl gamer?
In Counter-Strike, most guys believe they are better than female players. But when I'm in a server, my main goal is to show girls can kick a guys ass anytime. I feel the same way when I'm in a scrim.
Who would you rather go on a date with, Bowser, Link, or Toad?
Link. Who wouldn't love a man in tights? (Laughs) Also because he isn't huge or have horns, like Bowser, and he is not a midget, like Toad.
Where do you play video games? In your living room? In a volcano?
My room mostly. That's where I got my nice PC , Wii, and PS2.
Been to any cool gaming events?
I went to CPL in Texas. The clan I was in didn't compete, but it was the biggest LAN party I have ever been to. It was awesome to see the real competition live in front of your eyes. Also to see previews of awesome games to come. I plan on attending every year now (Laughs).
So we know that you like Mario. What are some of his most charming traits?
His handsome Italian mustache. Actually, It's because he can do about anything. He can save the princess, play basketball or soccer, throw an amazing party, and now he is an astronaut.
Here's a scenario: a male gamer totally annihilates you in a game you've never even played. He then goes on to start claiming that females have no place in gaming. What do you do/say to him?
Ban him and then take off in the Rofl-copter. Or just tell him off and demand a rematch.
If you were a character in Tekken, what would your special move be and what would your outfit look like?
The nut shot (Nina's move): just walk up and pow! right in the balls and my outfit would be a female version of the Arctic Avenger in CS.
Some games make you too hot for clothes.

What is one game that you remember from your younger days of gaming that really sucked you into the world of video games? Crono Trigger! It was the first RPG I ever played. I was super psyched to find a game that took more than a few hours to beat.
You obviously like to get dressed up from time to time, and events in the video game industry are swarming with beautiful women. If you got asked to go promote for a company at a video game convention as a sexy vixen, what would you wear?
I would wear something sexy, cute and ultra Japanese, Like Rikku from Final Fantasy X2
If you were meeting a guy for the first time, would you be hesitant to tell him that you love to play video games?
There's a guy out there who doesn't play video games?! I'm never hesitant about telling a guy that I love video games, but they do get a little intimidated when I kick their ass at Mortal Kombat.
Women tend to get depicted stereotypically in video games more often than not. If there was one thing you would change about the way women are depicted in games, what would it be?
Actually, I think the gaming industry has made major strides in the way women are depicted in games. Sure the majority of game heroines are still clad in daisy dukes or bikinis, but there's nothing wrong with being tough and sexy. If I could change anything I think the problem lies within the female user-unfriendly game console. I can barely get my hands around a 360 controller!
"...there's nothing wrong with being tough
and sexy."
Tell us an embarrassing video game story.
I was playing Fatal Frame for PS2 once when I was home alone. I got so scared I screamed and peed my pants a little. Not my finest moment.
As a fan of RPGs, you must realize that most take huge chunks of time to play through. Have you ever lost sleep from a game because you couldn't put it down, or just wanted to get through it?
I logged 15 hours consecutively on Kingdom Hearts the first day I bought it. When I finally got to sleep, all I could dream about was defeating the Heartless.
Who would win in a 3-way fight to the death: Mario, Link, or Sonic?
Scorpion! Back, back, B button harpoons all three of them!
This face will eat your intestines in a Halo
slayer match.

What got you into gaming?
Definitely Mario Kart (laughs). I remember playing against my cousins in that game and I was totally hooked on gaming after that.
We've heard you say that you enjoy "...meeting the occasional guy who thinks he's the sh*t--and eventually he ends up in KSI..." What's KSI?
KSI is a gaming community on Xbox Live--Originally the name stood for Killing Services Inc. but they wanted to go with a softer approach so in 06 they changed it to Knowledge-Strength-Integrity. They have many "divisions" within different games within Xbox and are currently moving towards PC, but they don't have the best kind of reputation. Due to past events with the clan, not many people like them. Currently I am a part of Empire Arcadia, which has been shown on MTV gamers week and has established themselves very well in the competitive gaming scene.
"Playing Halo 2 with my friends... ...makes me
forget about what made me mad..."
We know you compete in gaming tournaments. What are these events like?
I have been attending the MLG or Major League Gaming Tournament since 2005 for Halo 2. These events are amazing! They have definitely grown and been improved since my first experience with them in 2005. It's amazing to see the growing girl gamer community at these events. It's tripled since 2005 and I'm very glad for that kind of competition.
Do you think that video games serve any greater purposes in life other than merely as entertainment?
As an artist, it helps me get creative, especially RPGs. They make my artistic side go nuts. Many people view video games as being a bad influence on society, using it as the main cause for different things that happen in this world, but personally its a good outlet for me to relieve stress. Playing Halo 2 with my friends on Xbox Live and just having fun makes me forget about what made me mad during the day.

We heard that you're a fan of the Silent Hill series. Have you ever been so freaked out from playing it that you weren't able to sleep at night?
Actually not really. I love playing Silent Hill and Resident Evil at night and then having crazy dreams like I am really in the game. They can turn into nightmares, but sometimes they are awesome. I guess I feel like the games are training me for a zombie attack or scary dream world that I might run into some day.
Is it even an issue whether or not the guy you are interested in plays video games?
Hell yes it's an issue. The guy would be boring to me if he didn't have an interest in video games. Seriously, who doesn't like video games?
Do you and your girlfriends ever get together and have a girl game night?
I sometimes play with just one of my girlfriends, but we don't make out or anything. Sorry to disappoint.
(Disappointedly) What was your first memory of playing a video game?
I played Mario and Duck Hunt first, but Bubble Bobble is the game that I remember playing all the time and really fell in love with. My brother and I would play together and try to beat the game almost every other day. I even remember that my favorite level was the one shaped like a heart... it might have been level 100.
"...we are trying to teach him how to hold
the Wii Remote."
Does your cat know how to play Wii?
My cat Koopa loves to attack the Wii remote strap and the TV when someone is playing. He can't play yet, but we are trying to teach him how to hold the Wii Remote.
Have you ever had an embarrassing Wii-related accident?
I have hit myself in the face with the remote a couple times, but other than that nothing too violent. I do dance really goofy to Wario Ware music. I can't help it. I know it wouldn't want anyone to video record it and put it on the internet though. That's for damn sure.
